Patrick Linn

Executive Director
Collier Mosquito Control District

Patrick Linn joined the Collier Mosquito Control District (CMCD) in 2007 as a pilot charged with planning and safely executing aerial missions to protect Collier residents and visitors from both nuisance and disease-carrying mosquitoes.  In that role, he also executed the annual training program for CMCD’s in-house pilots.

In 2016, the CMCD Board of Commissioners appointed Patrick to the Executive Director position.  With the emerging threat of the Zika virus in the state of Florida, Patrick was tasked with maintaining CMCD’s integrated mosquito management program while also overseeing the development of a Zika (Aedes aegypti) surveillance and response program.  He is dedicated to CMCD’s core mission of protecting public health and enhancing the quality of life in the community, all with sensitivity to the environment.

With the goals of organizational transparency, education, and outreach in mind, Patrick works closely with colleagues at CMCD to tailor programs that are accessible, understandable, and informative.  Mr. Linn and his colleagues at CMCD are constantly seeking solutions to problems that arise with the inevitable changes in the community, landscape, and science behind the practice of very necessary mosquito control.

Mr. Linn is a commercial pilot for both fixed-wing and rotorcraft.  He also maintains certification as a flight instructor, instrument flight instructor, and multi-engine instructor.  While his position as Executive Director requires much more time on the ground, Patrick continues to pilot aerial missions on a weekly basis to keep in touch with all facets of the operation.

Mr. Linn’s formal education includes a BS in Health and Exercise Science from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, an MS in Exercise Science from Southern Illinois University, and another MS in Human Anatomy & Physiology Instruction from New York Chiropractic College.  He has worked as an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Sciences, keeps an active real estate sales license, and has worked as an airline pilot.

Patrick very much enjoys being outdoors, spending time with his wife, two children, and adopted animals.  He also enjoys paddle boarding, motorcycling, and swimming.
